Nocturnal Nirvana with Avril: Finding Magic in the Moonlit Hours
Story time!
Ever since I was a child it’s always been hard for me to wake up early. At first, I didn't know why but as I grew up, I understood that the reason behind that is because I often sleep late. I considered myself as a “night owl” because when everyone's asleep, I’m not. This is called “Nocturnal Lifestyle”.
What is Nocturnal Lifestyle?
A nocturnal lifestyle refers to living primarily during the night instead of the day. While most people follow a diurnal schedule (awake during the day and asleep at night), nocturnal individuals flip this cycle. They are awake and active through the nighttime hours and rest or sleep during the day.
Why did I choose to have Nocturnal Lifestyle?
I wouldn’t say I intentionally chose a nocturnal lifestyle—it feels more like it chose me. I’ve always been drawn to the quiet and solitude that the night offers. There’s something uniquely comforting about the stillness of the world after dark, where distractions fade and it’s just me and my thoughts.
The night provides the perfect environment for me to focus, reflect, and truly enjoy my own company. It’s in these tranquil hours that I find peace and a sense of belonging. Naturally, I gravitate toward doing most of my activities under the calming embrace of moonlight. For me, it’s not just a lifestyle—it’s my sanctuary.
My schedule as a student with a Nocturnal Lifestyle
I start my day at 6 in the morning. I eat breakfast and get ready for school. After that at around 6:50 I walk from home to school and my school starts at around 7:20.
We have our first morning break at around 9:20. I’ll eat my packed food and after that I’ll do tasks and assignments so that I won’t have to do it in my house.
During our lunch break which is around 12 nn to 12:40 I just sleep during the whole duration of our lunch break. After that I’ll just follow the regular class schedule. Our class ends at 3:40 pm. I arrive at our house at around 4 pm and then I sleep until 10 pm. Yes, until 10 pm, I slept for like almost 5 hours after school.
When I wake up at around 10 pm the first thing that I do is eat my dinner and then do my homework and projects. I also watch movies sometimes and play online games. Basically, I do everything that I need during this time and I’ll rest around 4 am. But before I rest, I always bathe with warm water and relax in the bathroom for around 30 mins and do my skincare routine after. Even when I stay awake at night I still get enough time to sleep.
Advantages:
Tranquility and Focus: The quiet of the night reduces distractions, allowing for deep concentration and productivity.
Creative Energy: Many find that their creativity peaks during the peaceful, moonlit hours.
Unique Freedom: A nocturnal schedule can feel liberating, offering solitude and individuality away from the bustling daytime world.
Disadvantages:
Health Risks: Misaligned circadian rhythms can lead to sleep problems and impact overall well-being.
Limited Social Interaction: It may be challenging to connect with friends and family who follow a daytime schedule.
Daylight Challenges: Reduced exposure to natural sunlight can affect mood, energy levels, and vitamin D intake.
Do you find this lifestyle cool or weird? Are you willing to try this?
