First Day: Orientation and Tour

The first day of my work immersion was a mix of excitement and nervousness. We started with an orientation where we learned about the rules, expectations, and the nature of our tasks. The staff warmly welcomed us, making us feel comfortable in our new environment. After the orientation, we had a tour of the facility, where we got to see the different departments and how they function. To commemorate the start of our journey, we took a group picture with our team and mentors.

Second Day: A Busy Day with Organizing and Assisting Patients

The second day was more hands-on. One of my main tasks was organizing envelopes, which contained important medical records. It was a small but essential task to ensure a smooth workflow. The hospital was packed with patients, mostly cases of rabies and tuberculosis. Seeing so many patients needing medical attention was overwhelming, but it also made me appreciate the hard work of healthcare workers. The day was long and busy, but I learned a lot about efficiency and teamwork.

Third Day: A Balanced and Rewarding Day

The third day turned out to be my favorite. There were fewer patients, allowing us to interact more with people, especially babies and seniors. I guided patients and helped them with their concerns, which made me feel more connected to the work we were doing. Aside from assisting patients, we also participated in a cleanup drive to maintain a hygienic environment. At the end of the day, there was a meeting between the nurses and doctors, which gave us an insight into how medical professionals coordinate their efforts.

Fourth Day: Another Busy Day with New Challenges

The fourth day was another hectic one, but it came with new challenges and learning experiences. My team and I switched task roles, giving us the opportunity to try out different responsibilities. One of my tasks was listing patients with rabies in the record book, ensuring all data was properly documented. I also helped fix a survey and did other small tasks to assist the staff. Despite the overwhelming number of patients, we managed to get through the day by working together and staying organized.

Final Thoughts

My work immersion experience was truly eye-opening. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the medical field and the dedication of healthcare workers. The challenges we faced taught me patience, teamwork, and the importance of organization. It was a tiring but fulfilling journey that I will always remember. Every day, we ate at the karinderya, where we got closer and bonded with my work immersion team. This daily routine made the experience even more enjoyable and strengthened our teamwork.
