Being a self journalist or you could say photographer in Quiapo, Manila, is both exciting and challenging. The area is full of life, from the busy marketplace and street vendors to the iconic Quiapo Church and its devoted followers. Doing that  here means making quick decisions, staying alert, and knowing how to approach people with respect.

Capturing moments in Quiapo isn’t just about taking photos it’s about telling real stories, whether it’s the emotion of a devotee praying, the energy of a street vendor, or the movement of the crowd during the Black Nazarene procession. The fast-paced environment requires photographers and journalists to be quick, creative, and aware of their surroundings. Despite the challenges, covering Quiapo is rewarding because every shot, video, or article helps preserve the culture and daily life of one of Manila’s most vibrant districts.
